Disenco Energy Opens New Website with Online Energy and Carbon Saving Calculator
06 March 2008

Utilities, home builders, housing authorities, SMEs and consumers can now calculate how many hundreds of pounds they could save and earn each year, as well as the tonnes of CO2 they could cut from their premise's carbon footprint through Disenco's HomePowerPlant appliance

Sheffield, 6th March 2008 – Disenco Energy plc (www.disenco.com) today opens a new interactive website enabling utilities, home and office builders, housing authorities, SMEs and consumers to use an online calculator and see how much money could be saved and earned each year by using its local energy-producing appliance, the HomePowerPlant. Armed with last year´s gas and electricity bills, visitors to the information-rich site will also be able to calculate how many tonnes of CO2 they may be able to cut from their premise´s annual carbon footprint using the appliance.

More than 27,750 million tonnes of CO2 are dumped into the global environment each year with the bulk being from industrialised and manufacturing nations. Homes and small offices account for around 27% of the total CO2 count … about 7,479 million tonnes each year. The annual carbon footprint of the average UK home is estimated to be 6 tonnes and could be reduced to 2 tonnes by installing the HPP in the premises. Translated on a global scale, that would represent a net reduction in CO2 of around 3,900 million tonnes each year.

More than £150 million and 80 man years have been invested in developing Disenco´s patented Sterling Engine … the heart of Disenco´s micro-combined heat and power (m-CHP) system. The appliance delivers all the heating and hot water needs of a family and at the same time, converts what would normally be waste heat to electricity, providing 50% of the average electrical consumption and up to 70% of their electrical power needs at peak times.

Excess electricity produced in the home can be exported to the national grid and when combined with the low cost of electricity generated in the home enables users to recover the incremental cost of their HPP investment in an expected 24 - 48 months, and then continue to benefit from the reduced energy costs and carbon footprint reduction each year thereafter.

Disenco is currently conducting extensive tests on its production appliance with commercial release of the HPP scheduled for Q3, 2008. The company is listed on the Toronto TSX Venture Exchange (DIS) and plans to list on London´s AIM market this year.

About Disenco Energy

Disenco Energy plc (www.disenco.com) is based in Sheffield, England. Its HomePowerPlant (HPP) system is a direct replacement for a boiler, and a more efficient and less onerous solution to local power generation than solar panels or wind turbines. HPP simultaneously delivers 15-18kW thermal and 3kW electricity. It is currently the most powerful solution available to governments to enable them to meet their carbon target quotas and for utilities to retain customers and build brand loyalty.
