Disenco meet with The Rt Hon Lord Hunt at the House of Commons
08 December 2009
Today, 25th November 2009 Brian Longpre (Chairman) and Alan Dale (CEO) of Disenco Ltd, together with Meg Munn MP, met with the Rt Hon Lord Hunt who leads for Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) on ensuring the UK has a secure, low-carbon and affordable energy supply.

At the meeting the inclusion of micro- Combined Heat and Power (m-CHP) in the proposed Feed-in Tariff scheme was welcomed by Disenco.

A general discussion on the values of m-CHP to assist in achieving the government´s targets of reducing carbon emission and getting 40% of electricity from low carbon sources was well received by Lord Hunt.

The recent news that the UK government will be introducing a feed-in tariff system in April 2010 in order to encourage the growth of renewable and low carbon energy has been well received by advocates of clean energy production who see it as the best way of achieving grid parity with non-renewable sources in the future.

In the ´Consultation on renewable electricity financial incentives 2009´ report Lord Hunt stated the following about Feed-in Tariffs (FiTs); “It will enable communities to come together and invest in generating renewable electricity. It will make it easier for householders and business to finance their own electricity generation. It will help us all play our part in renewing our electricity supply”.
