The Product
Transforming the supply of energy through the capture of waste heat
Disenco’s innovative Home Power Plant is based on existing Stirling Engine technology. The technology utilized by Disenco has undergone extensive research and development in the submarine, space and hybrid motor vehicle industries. Disenco's team of creative and knowledgeable engineers and their engineering Partners have further refined this technology, to achieve efficiency levels exceeding 92%.
Disenco’s technology is the result of tens of thousands of engineering hours dedicated to the advancement and commercialization of its micro-Combined Heat and Power unit. The core system has been tested for more than 40,000 hours since its initial development, further bolstering the Company’s confidence in the application of the product in the domestic environment.
The simple Stirling engine is a sealed external combustion engine that uses an ambient pressure combustor [like a boiler or a water heater] to provide a constant heat source. Stirling engine technology has several advantages relative to other power sources underlining other heat and power systems. As an external combustion engine, it operates at a lower temperature, pressure and resolution than a convention internal combustion engine. Design benefits of Stirling engine technology include:
- Less noise and vibration
- Lower manufacturing and installation costs
- Lower maintenance costs as a sealed unit
- It can operate independently to the power grid
- Lighter weight than competitor models
- Reliable, robust design
Disenco owns several patents related to its development of the technology and is in the process of applying for additional patents to protect its innovative design methodologies.
